Bridgewater case
On December 24, 1919 Sacco and Vanzetti were said to have participated in the robbery and attempted murder in Bridgewater. On the recommendation of supporters, Vanzetti chose to be represented by John P. Vahey, a very reliable defense attorney. During this first trial the defense provided very good abilities to defend Sacco and Vanzetti. The prosecution then countered with the fact that the timing of these abilities were during the exact time of the crime and could be easily forged. The prosecution also provided some witnesses that put Sacco and Vanzetti at the crime scene. Their descriptions varied, especially with respect to the shape and length of Vanzetti’s mustache.
